Our Team

Philip Campbell Company Director

Philip spent over 10 years developing various Irish Language community projects, and campaigning for recognition of the Irish Language. During this time he was a part-time radio presenter and actor, and he finally took the big leap to realise one of his ambitions to create his own business when he formed Tobar Productions and became a serious producer.

He is still very much at the early stages of developing the company, but one of his other ambitions to become a well known actor has not yet been realised so please have a look at a sample of his acting work and give him the big break which has alluded him. Word has it that he is very good. He also wants to buy and renovate a light house.

Diarmuid Ó Tuama Programme Development

Diarmuid taught for 31 years, which was long enough but he has since decided to work! His career culminated in becoming a school principal. He has a passion for Gaelic sports which he played some years ago. He was very bad at hurling and worse at Gaelic football.

He also played some handball without much success. He enjoys reading and loves history. He also potters about his garden. Since leaving teaching behind him, he has been travelling and was really taken aback by Rome.

Damian Mc Cann Research and Production

Damian is a graduate of Irish and French from Queen’s University, Belfast. He originally hails from Lurgan, Co. Armagh but he escaped and has lived in exile in Belfast for the last 5 years. Damian’s two great loves are music and film, possibly in that order and can often be seen at a gig/cinema in a venue near you.

At the minute Damian’s favourite things are Guinness, Good Vibrations Records, Public Transport and speaking in the 3rd person like the Queen. However his dislikes are Sharon Osbourne and CJ from BBC2’s ‘Eggheads’. Damian hopes to continue his already flailing media career over the next few years, and develop his technical skills as well as production skills so that he can start making and developing his own program ideas.

Cathal Cully Research and Production

Cathal is a graduate in Irish and Celtic Studies from Queen’s University, Belfast. He is currently working with Tobar as part of the NI Screen Irish Language Broadcast Fund training scheme. Apart from his work with Tobar, he also has experience in basic editing which he would like to build upon.

He has a great passion for music and enjoys playing the guitar and collecting records in his spare time. Cathal would like to combine his love for music and television to make music documentaries.

Fergus

Fergus is a graduate of Social Policy and Sociology from Queens University, Belfast. He grew up for the most part in Warrenpoint, Co.Down, a far cry from his birthplace of Montreal. Fergus has been working in the Television and Music industries in Belfast since 2003, and hopes to continue doing so, making a fortune along the way! In 2006 he took part in the Irish Language Broadcast Fund's training initiative which lead him to work on several Irish language productions for TG4 and BBC NI. Fergus loves to travel whenever he can get the chance, and is obsessed with music, to the detriment of his hearing!

Fergus has been with Tobar Productions from the beginning but is currently taking a break to broaden his media experience with other companies.

Seán Curran

Sean Curran is an invaluable member of the Teletobar Team, with his wit, charm and genial nature helping ensure that the team gets the job done to high standards whilst enjoying the work! Sean’s background covers many areas including acting in plays such as ‘A Night in November’, ‘Us and Them’, as well as minor roles in films such as Heroes and The Mighty Celt. Sean’s voice has been heard up and down the country on TG4’s successful Irish language version of the worldwide hit children’s educational series ‘The Doodlebops’, and all over the world on his own daily radio show on Raidió Fáilte.

Sean enjoys the background operation of television working as part of a production team and the organisational side of things but is also keen to try his hand in front of the camera.
